Sidney was the loveliest, gentlest chap you could ever hope to meet. A Golden Guernsey goat with a flowing, sun-catching golden coat. He spent his happiest hours lazing in the sun alongside his brother Thomas and sister Audrey. He took his role as uncle seriously too, watching over Audrey’s two kids, Doc and Ellie, with quiet, caring patience.
Sidney had a real talent for finding just the right spot to relax. He was always among the first to greet visitors with his big, unmistakable smile. He adored rich tea biscuits and could hear a packet rattle from a mile away. Unlike some goats, Sidney never pushed or shoved. If any goat ever deserved the title “gentleman,” it was him. Over the years, he lost a few teeth, and somehow his smile only grew more beautiful because of it.
Sidney loved when visitors gently held his face while he gazed into their eyes, and anyone who met him knew he returned that love tenfold. He showed it the only way he knew how: a quiet, soulful look that comes naturally to animals who spend their days surrounded by people who love them, just as ours do here at The Rescue Ranch.
We miss Sidney enormously, but we take comfort knowing he’s still out there somewhere, roaming the fields with his friends and settling into his favourite sunny spot. If we look hard enough, we might just catch a glimpse of him there ourselves.
The Springfield Pet Cremation team were honoured to be entrusted with Sidney’s care afterwards. His individual farm animal cremation was carried out with dignity, respect and gentleness. He was treated with the same love and care that had surrounded him throughout his life.
